So I watched one half of football this season. That includes high school, college and professional. This would have surprised my 30-year-old self who had season tickets to UCLA football and after church I regularly could be found “watching football” (our term for me falling asleep in front of the TV). I guess I just had too many other things going on in life and I already dedicate so much of my time “watching baseball” in the summer. I’m also slightly concerned about supporting a sport that leaves young men with the maladies of the old.
Anyway, the half of football I watched was the last half of the Super Bowl. We invited friends over and I spent the first half of the game grilling burgers, eating and playing Just One. Every now and then we’d look up to see a field goal or an eye-catching commercial. When the halftime show started, our group gathered around the TV and saw that someone had planted sugar cane on the field! Only later did we learn how:

I’ve heard that this NFL season, especially the playoffs, was one of the most entertaining in years. I kinda regret not experiencing it. But I don’t really know what I would have given up to have had the time to watch the games this year.
